FIDIC, the International Federation of National Association of independent consulting Engineers , was set in 1913. With membership from 75 countries, FIDIC represent majority of the practicising consulting engineers in the world. Members comply with a code of ethics guiding their professional standard FIDIC works to promote their common interests of consulting engineers through seminars, conferences, training programmes and regular discussions with national associations and intenational financial institutions (such as World Bank, ADB etc.) Prepartion of standard forms of contarct and other document is a major activity of FIDIC. |

| ABOUT CEAI |

Consulting Engineers Association of India(CEAI) is the apex body of consulting engineers in India. CEAI represents the Indian Engineering Consultancy Profession at the International Federation of consulting Engineers (FIDIC) . CEAI membership comprises of practicing consultants, private and public sector firms engaged in entire range of engineering consultancy services. CEAI looks after the interest and enhances status of consulting engineering profession in India and is equally concerned with quality development, productivity enhancement and promotion of ethical pactices. CEAI has established linkages and strong bonds with its counter parts in various countries and is a staunch advocate of global networking and cooperation.

| SEMINAR OBJECTIVES |

To meet the challenges of development process in india and othe developing countries need for Capacity Building and Project Sustainability Management for all players involved cannot be over emphasized. To ensure fullest benefit to be derived from the investment towards development, qualitative and quantitative upgradation of human resources and technology, wherewithal is essential. Therefore, in order to provide the necessary insight into the above two issues, FIDIC in association with CEAI is organizing 2 one day seminars on the above subjects. The Seminars are planned on 31st January and 1st February 2007, respectively, at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi.
The main objective of the Seminars is to engage managers in the discussion of management issues, to develop new approches, leadership skills and intercultural undestanding and to become acquainted with the FIDIC activities in the area of Capacity Building & Project Sustainability Management. These seminars will offer a general discussion and sharing of ideas and findings. The programme is tailormade to suit the need of various stakeholders, clients, consultant & contractors.

| CAPACITY BUILDING |

In view of the ongoing larger dynamics, the Seminar on "Capacity Building" intends to provide a platform to share and explore the expeiences in Capacity Building in various countries to proceed towards a collective assessment of existing efforts and initiatives. It will focus on strategic planning in the area of capacity building in order to ensure the improvement, continuity and expansion of ongoing efforts in the future. It will also provide an insight of the global views of the current activities in the field of Capacity Building in different regions, highlighting lessons learned, emerging issues, and gaps present in developing countries that need to be addressed. It will also provide a platform for discussing the inputs for proposals and strategic planning for the ongoing and future projects.
